John Chapman — call sign “Mako 30C”, was a U.S. Air Force Combat Controller and Medal of Honor recipient whose valor and selfless action set the highest standard of courage under fire. On March 4, 2002, during the Battle of Takur Ghar, Afghanistan, he fought relentlessly to protect his teammates, saving members of SEAL Team Six, U.S. Army Rangers, and supporting aircrew while continuing the fight against overwhelming enemy forces.
He held his position alone under intense fire and continued the mission until his final breath. His actions — the first Medal of Honor heroism ever captured on video — remain a permanent testament to sacrifice, resolve, and duty.
